Personal Prayer Time

New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin on what he's learned while spending time deep in meaningful prayer with the Lord:

"It's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild New Orleans _ the one that should be a chocolate New Orleans," the mayor said. "This city will be a majority African American city. It's the way God wants it to be. You can't have New Orleans no other way. It wouldn't be New Orleans."

That New Orleans was settled by white French settlers doesn't come close to its rich Jazz heritage. Beignets? Zeideco? The Battle of New Orleans? Nope, Jazz Fest trumps them all.

The shoe is now on the other foot

A policeman complains about his new partner in crime:

When state Trooper Jeffrey Covello crashed his cruiser last July in Plymouth, he knew supervisors would investigate the accident.

What he did not know was that deep inside his Ford Crown Victoria was a small "black box," similar to those in airplanes, that recorded data in the seconds before impact - information that could be used against him by his superiors if he were found to be at fault.

"I had no idea my car had one," Covello, a 12-year veteran, said. "I feel like I took an oath to protect the Constitution for others but my own rights have been cast aside."

If you're not one of the bad boys, you're nobody...unless you're somebody. Really?

An uncivil union

Conrad also obtained a restraining order Wednesday against her partner, saying Peterson punched a hole in the wall during an argument and threatened to harm a friend.

"All I want to say is that the civil union was a big source of pride for me, and now it's not," Peterson said.

The couple in question is made up of two women. Of course, we know that women would never engage in violent behavior like their male counterparts. No way. Never...
